Deadline Extended! – Health Literacy and Plain Language Workshop

Dear Members,

Happy New Year – We hope that 2007 is healthy and prosperous for all of you and your families!

Don’t forget – This is your Final Opportunity to Register:

Health Literacy and Plain Language: Skills for Clear Health Communication
Tuesday, January 23, 2007, 9:00 – 4:30
Enders Auditorium, Children’s Hospital Boston
Sponsored by MAHSLIN and NNLM/NER

**THE REGISTRATION DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO TUESDAY, JANUARY 9TH, 2007**

Many of you may have seen Carolyn Paul and Beth Schneider’s recent article in the Journal of Hospital Librarianship entitled Leading a Plain Language Program (6#2: 51-8). To quote them: “The authors encourage other librarians to embrace opportunities to expand their roles in this arena.”

Health literacy directly relates to patient safety – make it a New Years’ resolution to get involved by promoting this program to your patient safety colleagues in addition to the nurses, educators, pharmacists, public affairs and other staff writing for patients, their families and the health care consumer.

Our speaker, Sue Stableford is an expert on writing health information using plain language – you and your colleagues don’t want to miss this workshop on January 23rd!
