MAHSLIN & NAHSL Education Committees are pleased to announce our next joint program-

Getting Magnetized: Search and Service Strategies for Nursing Excellence with Peg Allen, Library Consultant and popular MLA CE instructor

The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Magnet initiative promotes a journey to excellence, a common thread in accreditation and certification programs setting the standards for professional nursing for the 21st century. Librarians and nurses will:

* Learn about knowledge-based information needs of nurses in clinical and academic settings, with an emphasis on evidence based nursing and the ANCC Magnet initiative.

* Learn efficient methods for finding resources for evidence-based practice via the Internet, CINAHL and MEDLINE (Attendees should have basic knowledge of PubMed/MEDLINE).

* Evaluate point-of-care resources for interdisciplinary practice.

* Develop collaborative education and service strategies to improve knowledge-based information services for nurses in clinical and academic settings.

This course will be valid for 6 MLA CE credits! Additionally, we hope to offer nursing CEs – we will keep you posted.

LOCATION -

Kirstein Living Room, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, Massachusetts

Peg is looking forward to having a diverse audience of both librarians and nurses, and we encourage you let appropriate staff at your hospital’s know about this CE opportunity. Stay tuned for more details!

  1. I am curious to know if the use of PDA’s (or similar technology) by nurses and/or nursing students in the clinical and academic settings will be discussed at this program?

    Thanks

  2. Rachel,

I do not believe the focus of the program is technology.
